"Moraine" is in Lyme Art Association's Summer Show

Waters of life

This tumble of lichen-covered granite boulders inspired me to create “Moraine.”  The location is Chatfield Hollow, which is part of the Cockaponsett State Forest.  The moss on these glacial boulders is such a wonderful variety of rich greens.If you walk the loop around the pond, you won't be able to miss this scene.  It calls to me each time we stroll past.  This winter, I finally had to paint it.

It has been so long since I've used my blog that I'm not sure I remember what to do. So much seems to have changed in two years (as one would expect, I suppose).

I have set my oils aside for Christmas and look forward to getting back to them. I only finished one painting in December, so I'm feeling less than productive.

One of my small watercolors, "Autumn Sky," was sold at the Essex Art Association's "Chili Cheap & Chilly" sale December 12th.

I'm pleased that one of my pointsettia portraits was selected for the current show at the Lyme Art Association, "Deck the Walls."

Forsythia Is Blooming!

I can't believe that it's been over a month since I've written. I've been very busy painting, getting ready for the Expressions Benefit Art Show and Sale that opens tonight at the Lyme Art Association, and preparing for the coming art openings at the various associations to which I belong.

Meanwhile, SPRING HAS SPRUNG! My favorite forsythia bush is blooming at last! It is as beautiful as when I first painted it two years ago. I wish the forsythia bush in my own yard were as elegant as the one in my "April Morning" painting. Yesterday, I was out painting in my side yard not far from my skimpy forsythia bush; by the time I quit, I was frozen despite the winter jacket that I had been wearing--it surely didn't feel like spring.

I hope it warms up by Sunday. I'll be painting at the Mark Twain House in Hartford with other members of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. I'm looking forward to it.
