"Sea & Fog" will be in the upcoming CWA Exhibition

I am so pleased to announce that my painting "Sea & Fog" has been accepted into the 84th Annual National Open Juried Exhibition of the Connecticut Women Artists.

It was a very soggy morning when I painted "Sea & Fog" on location  at Fish Beach on Monhegan Island, Maine.  The island of Manana across the harbor appeared and disappeared eerily in the mists.  My husband called it a "Brigadoon" morning!

"Sea & Fog" is a 6 x 12" acrylic on linen.  Copyright Joan Cole.

Juror of selections and awards was Douglas Hyland, Director of the New Britain Museum of American Art.

The show runs from August 31 until September 27 at The Slater Memorial Museum, 108 Crescent Street in Norwich, CT 06360.

The opening reception will be Saturday, September 7 from 2 to 4 PM.  I invite you to come.

New Haven Paint & Clay Opening, Sunday!

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how long it's been since I've blogged.  The hand surgery I had definitely put a stop to many of my activities, including painting and writing.  Today is my first day to get used to my "new" (as in "replacement") joint in my index finger.  What a joy!  (But not without pain, at this point.  I need to go slowly.)

I just wanted to invite everyone to join me at the opening on Sunday, March 11, from 2 to 5 at New Haven Paint & Clay's 111th Annual Juried Art Exhibition.  It's at The John Slade Ely House, 91 Trumbull Street, New Haven, CT 06510.  I'm so pleased to be able to say that my acrylic "Rainy Sunrise at Whitehead, Monhegan, Maine" was chosen to hang among the works of other artists of New England and NewYork.
