I met an amazing artist in Winslow, Arizona, where we stayed at the historic hotel, "LaPosada"--the resting place. A favorite of many famous people, including Howard Hughes, whose guestroom we occupied, this national treasure originally opened in 1930 at an expense of over $2 million (about $40 million today).
The sitting area of the Howard Hughes' bedroom.Roger and I marveled at the luxuriant gardens at LaPosada.
Artist Tina Mion and her husband Allan Affeldt rescued LaPosada from demolition in 1997 and--along with their third partner, sculptor Daniel Lutzick--are restoring it to its original splendor. You can meet Tina and her incredible works of art when you click on the link above. Her thought-provoking portrait of Jackie Kennedy hangs in the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
