Have you ever seen David Dunlop paint--IN PERSON? I have!

Perhaps like me, you have watched David Dunlop paint on his Emmy® and CINE Golden Eagle award winning PBS series Landscape Through Time with David Dunlop.  He's a superb artist, art historian, teacher and raconteur.  (*More info below.)  I once had the pleasure of watching him give a painting demonstration at Hartford Fine Art & Framing in East Hartford.  It was wonderful!  He's amazing!

 

David and producer and director Connie Simmons have a  new painting DVD project: 

Painting Skies with David Dunlop DVD.

They will be producing a workshop DVD series for landscape painters focusing on skies, water, and foliage.   It will include four one-hour programs that feature four different types of skies: Luminous Skies, Romantic Turbulent Skies, Classic Italian Ideal Landscape Skies, and Cloud Studies. 

 

Each program will have three sections.  David will begin by discussing and diagramming the design and composition of several relevant paintings by a range of different artists, including Claude, van Ruisdael, Turner, Constable, and the Hudson River painters  - as well as contemporary painters.  Next, he will demonstrate how to paint the skies in each of these paintings, discussing every step of his painting process along the way.  He will then paint a demonstration painting showing how you can incorporate these techniques into your own unique style.

Video production will begin in April and it will be available by the end of June/July.  The project is located right here in Wilton, Connecticut.
